Synchronised remains engaged in Grand National at Aintree
Horseracing lovers’ wish to see Synchronised running in next month’s Grand National is still alive, as the Gold Cup hero is among 59 left in the Aintree marathon.
The number of possible runners decreased to 59, when eighteen of them were taken out of the competition during the recent forfeit stage. Despite the omission of some quality contenders, the Grand National has a start-studded line-up.
Cheltenham Gold Cup champion, Synchronised and last year's Aintree winner, Ballabriggs, are still part of the list. George Primarolo, spokesman for Betfred, was delighted to have Synchronised in the line-up.
He said:
"Synchronised would be a fascinating contender if given the all-clear to run in the Grand National as the Gold Cup winner is essentially now 7lb well-in on the back of his Cheltenham Festival success."
Synchronised is the centre of attention following his brilliant success in the Grade 1 Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase, held on March 16. Under A. P. McCoy, he was unable to make an impression early on, as he held up in the rear.
However, the dashing runner started improving his work gradually to become prominent before final few furlongs. At the end moments, Jonjo O'Neill’s trainee shifted his gears to take his speed to the next level.
Following a fantastic finish, the nine-year-old clinched big victory by two and a quarter lengths. A total of 18 runners, who are not part of this year’s Grand National anymore, are:
Tartak, Hector's Choice, Massini's Maguire, Crescent Island, Stewart's House, Uncle Junior, Fair Along, Shakervilz, Wymott, Backstage, Some Target, Schindler's Gold, King Fontaine, Minella Theatre, Niche Market, Scotsirish, Hold On Julio and Quantitativeeasing.
According to the betting card, Synchronised is sitting on top of the table. He has been declared 8-1 favourite by bet365. On the other hand, Willie Mullins’ Prince De Beauchene and Junior are also carrying decent odds for the £975,000 handicap.
The most famous race is scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012. After an exciting Cheltenham Festival, all eyes are glued on the Aintree marathon.
With some powerful runners in the line-up, the Grade 3 event is expected to be quite fascinating and full of thrill.
