Question:

Syncro Skating??

i take a group of skaters who are having a go at syncro can anyone give me any ideas what i can teach them i am not 100% syncro my other colleague normally takes it but asked me to take over this week which i dont mind i used to do syncro when i was tiny and you kind of forget things!!!! any moves and holds would be great thanks

  1. hmmmm, definitely check out the usfsa levels book.  There are actually syncro levels with definitions on how to do the moves.  They probably have a program or something theyre already working on.  Have them perform this.  If worse comes to worse, have the skaters show you what they're working on.  I have done that in a pinch.  

    btw, intersecting lines with lunges at the point of intersection look really great and are a crowd pleaser.

  2. um, travelling wheels and travelling circles are always fun to do. funky intersections are pretty sweet. if you know how, you could teach them how to do an eggbeater. or, if none of this works for you, you can always just host a stroking class and improve on their skating for this week. :)

  3. Im in the Fort Wayne syncro team. i think you should do pinwheels, circles, lines, splices, and blocks. teach them the hold you use to march down ice in a line or the hold in a circle.
