Synergy Russian Sailing Team leading RC44 fleet: 2012 RC44 Austria Cup – Sailing News
With impressive sailing skills on Austria waters, the Russian team, Synergy Russian Sailing Team, has grabbed the overall standing position of the fleet. The team displayed impressive sailing skills in the 2012 RC44 Austria Cup and was able to hit the top
spot of the RC44 fleet overall with 15 points.
The event has produced some of the best sailing competitions on the Lake Traunsee racing area despite the fluctuating winds that kept shifting throughout the regatta. However, the winds are not so strong to trouble the sailors as they blew moderately from
five to 12 knots over the race course.
America’s Ed Baird explained the regatta proceedings saying, “The competition is fantastic but here there is another competitor and that is the lake, the lake really decides a lot of what happens in the matches, you can get very far ahead, sail out of the
wind and then it fills from the other side and they can pass you. You’re not just fighting the other boats, it’s a tricky lake.”
The event is getting more excited with each passing day as all teams are struggling hard to hit the leading podium. The Synergy Russian Sailing Team can be challenged by the French team of Aleph Sailing Team who are currently on second podium place with
13 points.
