  1. If you are reffering to a synthetic stock then yes there will be more recoil as opposed to a heavier wooden or other type of stock. Simply stated the weight of a weapon affects felt recoil, the heavier the gun the less recoil you feel but a synthetic shotgun is extremely controllable nonetheless if you practice correct shooting styles, methods and hand placement on the weapon. The only reason a light weapon become uncontrollabe is if it is fully sutomatic and/or chambered in a ridiculously powerful caliber.

  2. Weight affects the recoil. More weight less recoil. All the stuff on my mossberg is synthetic and yes it does kick heavy when shooting slugs. I have shot a freinds 870 that has wood and a 28" barrel, the recoil is much less.

  3. yes, i own a synthetic Benelli super black eagle 2 and it is extremely comfortable to shoot, but mostly because it is a semi automatic. Semi automatics have reduced kick, and frankly i cant tell much of a difference between my uncles old Benelli super black eagle without all the special padding and mine (with all the special padding). I'm not sure if pumps or break actions have more kick with synthetics though.

However synthetic rifles have more kick than ones with wood stocks (but you probably already knew that).

  4. A heavier weapons means less felt recoil all things being equal. However, all things are not equal in this case. Synthetic, polymer or plastic stocks have slightly more flexibility then wood does, they are also more squishy, and compress slightly when the weapon is fired. But the effect is pretty mild. because wood is heavier, and polymer is more forgiving, they tend to cancel out and produce about the same ammount of felt recoil. personally id go with the synthetic, its lighter, and more durable. if there was a difference between the ammount of recoil it would be so slight that it would be hardly noticable. Unless your talking about a 9 pound wood gun verses a 7 pound synthetic gun. usualy the difference in weight is less then half a pound though.
