Synthroid - I have bloodwork tomorrow & haven't taken it in two days.....?

I am on Synthroid to regulate my thyroid. I'm supposed to take the .125 every day, once a day. They monitor my blood levels to make sure I'm getting the right dosage.

I have bloodwork scheduled for tomorrow morning. I haven't taken my meds in two days because I went out of town and forgot to take them. I won't be home until late tonight.

Will it make much of a difference when they take blood??

Please help!!

Thanks!! :)

  1. It's likely to fudge your results.  It's necessary to carry an even amount of the hormone in your system.  That's why it's prescribed daily.  The test will be an average of what your thyroid levels are and if you've missed two consecutive doses, your levels have fallen.

It would make sense to call your care giver and tell them, so that the test can be rescheduled in a few weeks when you've been properly medicated and the levels have returned to what's normal for you at that dosage.

  2. no it shouldn't make too much of a difference as long as you take it tomorrow morning when you are supposed to. don't forget next time

  3. Yes, it will make a big difference. Reschedule your bloodwork.
