  1. syrian

  2. syrain

  3. Syrian hamsters (teddy bear, fancy, black bear, golden etc.)are considered the most friendliest and easy to tame ones among along hamsters, however they are solitary animals and must be kept one to a cage otherwise they can have vicious fights and even kill each other. Since they are easier to handle and tame, first time hamster owners and family with children prefer to have them as pets.

Dwarfs (winter white, robos, chinese, campbells etc) can be kept in same s*x pairs. However dwarfs from the same litter are better at coexisting in one cage than from different litters. Also dwarfs are equally friendly as syrians but take some more time to tame and become friendly. Also dwarfs have to be handled atleast once a weak or they become untame unlike syrians who can be tame for life. All four dwarf breeds exhibit similar behavior so you can choose any of them.

However the choice between syrians and dwarfs is yours to make since you have to decide which is best for you based on the behavioral characteristics differences between them that I have mentioned above. Both are equally cute hamsters and make great pets.

  4. Syrians:

    -Friendly

    -Bigger

    -Harder to Escape

    -More Laid Back

    Russian Dwarf Hamsters:

    -Smaller

-Easier to escape a wired cage

    -Faster

    -Harder to Handle

    -Hyperactive

    -Skinnier

I'd pick a Syrian, due to the fact that they're laid back, you can pet them without them squirming to get away!

I've had both Roborovski Hamsters and Syrians. I currently have a Black Bear Syrian Hamster, and she is definitely something!

  6. Hi! I'm the owner of Goldie, my adorable, light honey colored Syrian hamster, or Long haired teddy bear hamster. My friend had a little dwarf. After I tamed mine by playing with her, hand feeding her, and getting bitten only twice, Goldie still loves me, and we get along really well. She loves to be petted, and handled. Syrians are pretty sociable, and kind. My friend's hamie, on the other hand, a dwarf, was very cute, but was very ......er...mean. It didn't like to be woken up. Mine loves to play at anytime! But the dwarf didn't. It bit often, and was always not very nice. They are faster, and smaller, easier to get lost in the house. They aren't very easy to handle either. She wasn't very tame-able. She was just a grumpy little cute thing. Cute, but not nice. Dwarves need to be handled oftenly to be tamed, and you have to continue handling them. You'd probably get bitten more.....but Syrians, once tame, tame for life. Although dwarves are small furry cute things, syrians are just as cute, and are nicer. It's all up to your opinion though! They all need TLC!
