**This is my friends problem, not mines**

Well to make this simple, my friend wants to System Restore back to an earlier time, but it says there are no Restore Points, is there any way to rollback, she also says the dates in the calendar when you choose the Restore point is faded gray, blue, or white, and all are unclickable but today(she needs to rollback further)

and the arrow to go to other months is grayed,

Simple Question: Is there any way to system restore without restore points?

  1. i highly doubt it. unless there are some serious documents, i would suggest cutting the loses and starting fresh.

  2. no and there are only restore points made when u undownlaod or download something or do soemthing like defrag it.........and why do u need to restore it because u can just go to the add and remove programs to get rid of something you downloaded u didnt want

  3. If there is not restore then NO

  4. They're grayed out it means just like the message says there are no restore points for that date. Tell her to be sure System Restore is actually running and make sure she has allocated enough hard drive space for it to be effective. If there's no restore point there's no way to restore to a particular date.

  5. you have to create restore points to be able to use system restore. Maybe some uber 7331 hacker could figure it out but I'm pretty sure your friend is screwed. good luck

  6. If it's an IBM computer there's probably a second version of System Restore which is actually separate... I'm sorry, I can't remember exactly what it's called, but it was something like IBM RestorePoint. This is separate to regular system restore and so your friend could try using that if she has an IBM.

    Otherwise, no. Sorry :(
