Question:

System error, or new virus?

The following problem happened twice; both with the same exact webpage, so i know its no random error.

i get on AOL, i open a specific myspace page, (opens in new window)

then internet explorer opens (without command) and opens that same page an infinite number of times, one by one, over and over.

ive visited that page a million times but this event happened only twice so far. anyone have any theories?

Note: during this "error" system resources become diminished, the system lags when i order AOL to be shut down.

  1. I haver had a problem like that before but that was because I was trying to open a different file extension not compatible with internet explorer, in internet explorer.  So it kept opening up until I shut it down. Make sure when you are opening up the myspace thing that its not a file or something.  And just open myspace by going to www.myspace.com in your address bar.  Hope I helped.....and good luck!

  2. Update your anti-virus, remember to only have one anti-virus installed on your PC

    Download SuperAntiSpyware

Restart your PC in safe mode, and run a full scan with both.

While in safe mode, you may also want to have a look at your start up items by using msconfig.

Be careful with the items you uncheck, you can have a look here to see if they are necessary

You should also have a look at your IE Add-ons while in safe mode.

Disable any you do not use.

After you reboot back to normal mode, download and install ccleaner to fix any registry problems and clean up old temp files.

  3. If this is happening, then why do you re-visit the page? It's most likely going to slow down your computer until your grandpa can run faster than it.

  4. Looks like the webpage d.loads an adware program to your PC when you visit it. So every time you open the page, it will trigger that adware program. First, delete you browser cookies and then do a scan for any suspicious malware with an anti-virus or a free scanning sw.
