Question:

System in my car.?

I have 2x 12" MTX thunder4000's in my 96' stratus. I have a 600watt kenwood amp hooked up to them, and they hit pretty well. Each sub can push 400 watts, so with both of them, that's 800 watts, and i'm only pushing 600. I have 2 questions for anyone who's smarter than me.

Would getting an 800 watt amp make a noticeable difference? I don't want to buy one if it's just going to be close to the same or just a tad louder.

And what about capacitors? What EXACTLY do they do? I've heard they store energy so the amp drains energy straight from the capacitor, but do they make them louder? clearer?

Thanks in advance.

  1. an 800w will shore make the diffrence and about the capacitors will make your system safer

  2. geting 200 watts more wouldnt matter because thats probably MAX power, 600 watt amp depending on if its monoblock 2 chanell whatever is probably pushing half of that continuisley, it might make a little difference, OH, and i wouldnt worry about a capacitor, all it does is store enregy so that when your system hits and takes a lot of power, it will stop your lights from dimming, its a lot better off to get the right sized power wire and a better battery (i prefer the red top optimas) before even thinking about a capacitor.

  3. capacitors don't make them louder and yes they do store energy....adding 200 watts will make a difference but you're better  off leaving it as it is
