I have a Sony MDR-CD780 Headphones.

http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Sony%20MDR-CD780%20Headphones:1990382092

Seemingly, it is slowly killing off all my audio capable equippments. I connect it to the Tv and after a few months whenever I unplug it the normal sound doesn't come back only after fiddling with it repluging and unpluging a few times until it randomly "snaps out".

Had the very same problem after I connected it to my pda.

Then when I connected it to my PC sound system it started to eat away from its volume power. With the verys same volume settings it sounds less and less powerful.

All this is just weird coincidence? What the heck could be the problem??? The impedance?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. It's NOT the HEADPHONEs....

It's the connector in your Device that you plug it into...

That connector has a Switch that disconnects your audio from the device's speaker and switches the audio to your headphones....

And it's supposed to switch back when you unplug the headphone jack....

The problem is most of the switches are either CHEAP or oxidized due to NON-Usage....

Try plugging the headphone jack in about 30 to 50 times until the sound becomes reliable....or even a carefully placed shot of WD-40 on that mechanical switch would restore operation.

Of course AVOID using it in Belt driven units of any kind....

And then there's REPLACING the SWITCH...the BEST choice of all....
