Question:

Systems integration?

My Dad is a systems integration engineer, he quotes analyzers. Can someone explain to me what that means? I'm tired of sounding stupid when people ask me what my dad does. And he makes it way too complicated when I ask him what an analyzer is. I'm not dumb..I just don't have the analytical mind conducive to engineering I guess. Thanks!

  1. A system integrator combines two or more complex components that are supposed to work together to perform a specified task and assures that everything works as a complete system. That can mean different things in different industries.

The components could be a computer and various software programs. They could be a military vehicle, various weapons and fire control systems. They could be chemical process equipment, sensors and process control equipment.

An analyzer could be a computer data analysis system for analyzing economic conditions. It could be something for analyzing images for targeting weapons. It could be something for analyzing chemicals.

Quoting an analyzer may involve interpreting customer requirements, determining what analyzer components and characteristics are required to meet the requirements, figuring out what is necessary for the components to work together, determining the cost of the components and any work necessary to assure that they work together, and creating a sales proposal to offer to the customer.

If you don’t already know some things that would narrow the list of possibilities, you need to ask some targeted questions.

  2. I think it involves making some type of system by intergrating (adding) other programs to it.

for example lets take an army tank.

a systems integrator would have to understand how the turrent operates with the control pad and how the gps operates with the tanks movement.

As you can tell , Im not an expert but I hope this helped a bit

  3. Just search the wikipedia, or encyclopedia. U wil get it frm there
