FSV Mainz striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ádám-Szalai-c3557 has agreed a new deal and committed his long term future at the Bundesliga club by signing a contract extension, that runs until 2015.
The Hungarian born player, who previously played for Real Madrid B, joined the German team http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 in 2010 on loan from the Spanish second-tier club. He scored eight goals in 50 games and sustained a serious knee injury-cruciate
ligament- which ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
The forward is now wishing to forget the tough period spent on the sidelines through injury and wants to focus on performing really well for the rest of his contracted time with the Bundesliga side.
The 24-year-old commented that the club is really close to his heart and he has special affiliation with it. He appreciated the support he received from the Coface Arena, the coach Christian Heidel, the team members and loyal supporters
when he suffered the long term injury. The attacker expressed his delight at being at the German club.
"Mainz is a particularly special club for me. The club, the coach, the team and the fans always stood by me during my long injury absence and I feel very happy in Mainz,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The Hungarian international believes that the best is yet to come from him and he will work hard to improve his game.
"I have the feeling that I have not yet delivered my best for Mainz," he said.
Szalai is expected to play a crucial role in the team’s standings in the league. The coach Thomas Tuchel stated that the attacker is an important member of the squad as he provides technical genius, the physical aspect and the
healthy influence to the team. Therefore, his commitment to the club is a win-win for everyone at the club.
"Adam is an important component of our team given his technical ability, his physical presence and particularly his positive character. Therefore, the news of his contract extension is great for all of us," he mused.
The forward has scored five goals in nine appearances for his country.
