Following Pat Rice’s departure to the club, the North London club went on to appoint Bould as his successor and named the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international the new assistant manager of the club. As a result, he is now looking to try and fill in the void that
Rice left at the club, following his sixteen year stay with the team.
Despite many having their doubts about Bould, Szczesny has gone on to reveal that he has been practicing with the team first hand and admitted that with him helping train the defenders, the team might just be able to concede fewer goals this coming term.
The Pole told the club’s official website: "We have a new assistant manager in Steve Bould and he has been doing a lot of defensive work on the training pitch, which has been very good so far I believe, so hopefully we will concede less as well, which is
my personal hope anyway."
Last season, Arsenal went on to allow forty nine goals sneak past them and despite that number not being very high, there is still a lot of room for improvement.
The keeper feels that if the teams defence becomes more consistent and avoids making silly mistakes at the back, the Gunners could very well boast the best goals scored to goals scored against ratio in the league.
Szczesny added: "We didn't have a lot of luck with injuries to defenders last season. Hopefully this year we can have a settled back four, a strong bench as well, and concede less goals. As I said, with the work Steve Bould has been doing so far, it's looking
positive."
The team is yet to bring in any new defenders, but with them working on their current first team players, it is safe to assume that the team is going to come out all guns blazing this coming season.
Nonetheless, it is now a wait to see just what kind of impact Bould has had on the squad.
