Tímea Babos overshadows
Andreea Vaideanu in 1st round – Slovak Open 2011
Third seeded Hungarian Tímea Babos conquered Italian Andreea Vaideanu in the first round of the Slovak Open 2011.
Both rivals battled against each other on indoor hard courts of the Národné Tenisové Centrum in Bratislava, Slovakia. It took the third seeded Hungarian a record time of only forty seven minutes to subdue the Italian by flogging
her in straight sets of 6-2, 6-1 on Wednesday the 16th of November 2011.
Overall in the match, Vaideanu had smashed two aces and two double faults while, Babos had smashed two aces along with four double faults. However, the third seeded Hungarian was able to accomplish a grandiose ninety one percent
of her first service points and a sum of 76 percent of total service points won.
Moreover, she had a strong second return that assisted her in achieving a 56 percent of her total return points. Her defence was as strong as an ox and she did not set up a single breakpoint opportunity for her adversary but instead
capitalized on a 71 percent of her breakpoints won in the entire match.
Babos was a stronger player out of the two and with almost twice as many total points won in the match; she sealed her victory to reserve a spot in the second round of the tournament.
Opening the primary round of the match was Vaideanu but she was unable to hold her service game and got off to an awful start. On the contrary, Babos was able to squander two successive games to take a mini lead. She further increased
her lead to four games by capitalizing on a breakpoint in the third game and then holding her serve in the fourth.
It was in the fifth game that Vaideanu made a return with a hold of serve. In the following two games both the players had bagged a service game each and by the end of the seventh game the score had shifted to 5-2 with Babos leading
the set. As the third seeded Hungarian held her serve for the last time, she smashed a marvellous backhand down the T to secure the opening game.
During the second set both the players held their respective serves in the first two games. Once again it was in the third game that Vaideanu’s forehand went wayward and she erred. Mean while, Babos was able to square two games
and take a mini lead of 3-1 at the end of the fourth game. The third seed skilfully repeated the feat and further extended her lead.
During the seventh game, Babos held her last service game and was now only a game away from victory as she then broke her adversary in the last game, she bagged the match. Next up for the third seed is British Naomi Broady.
