Question:

T-Shirt Transfer Paper?

by  |  earlier

So I bought some transfer paper from Staples and my friend and I wanted to put our site name on it. So what we did was printed it off on the special paper and ironed it on. After a while, we peeled the backing off but ... there was a gross waxy feel to it. Before we tried washing another shirt we had made and it got ruined. Is there a way we can get a nice t-shirt feel and when is it safe to wash it?

PLEASE HELP.

  1. Did you wash the shirts first? Before doing an iron on you should wash the clothing first, do not use fabric softener on this wash. Once the shirt has dried, preferably in a dryer then you can put the transfer on it. Follow the directions with the package of transfer paper, do not wash the clothing then for 24 hours. After that when you wash turn it inside out and hang it to dry (this will make it last longer). Hope this helps, I like getting pics when I go to a concert, I sneak outside where they load the buses and get pics with who ever I saw, then I make my shirt and take it to the next show and get it signed.

  2. Make sure that you wash the shirt inside out in warm water (not the hot setting) with fabric softener, and DO NOT dry it in the dryer. Air dry it right side out so the transfer won't melt.

  3. I'm sorry to say but most T-Shirt transfer papers will leave your shirt with that 'waxy' feeling.

Follow the washing directions on the package (of the paper).

Make sure you wash the shirts inside out.

The waxy feeling will not go away no matter how many times you wash it. Eventually, it will start to crumble away.

It sucks, but thats the way the transfer crumbles.

You could always try directly writing on the shirts with fabric markers, or permanent markers.
