T-mobile dash, when i go to the start menu it displays a lock symbol how do i get it off?

I just got the phone yesterday, I let my friends brother look at it, and hes a computer nerd, and he already messed some stuff up, after he used it for a few minutes he gave it back and i went to my start screen and it now displays a lock symbol near the battery sign. Does anyone know what that means or how to get rid of it???

it means your keyboard is locked....to unlock it you press and hold the "z" key ( it has a lock symbol on it)
