T20 is to blame for modern-day batting failures says Shoaib Akhtar – Cricket News Update
Former Men in Green pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, claiming that T20 cricket has had a major bearing on player’s faulty techniques.
The former premier pace man believes that T20 cricket is to blame for the short-comings of the batsmen since the shortest format has started to have a negative effect on the players, as fitness stands out to be the primary concern.
"I think T20 cricket has not been good for our players and their techniques have been affected negatively and too much of T20 cricket is also posing fitness issues for them," said the famous speedster.
The speedster believes that the main lure for the players is the money which is involved with playing in lucrative T20 leagues. The world’s fastest, Shoaib, featured in the first edition of the Indian Premier League, playing for Kolkata Knight Riders. Injury
limited his participation to a handful of game but he did make an impact when fit, including a match-winning performance against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils.
"I know there is lot of money involved for players in the shorter form but I would advise them to focus on one-day and Tests because that is the real test for a cricketer and improves his fitness and techniques."
Akhtar has battled injuries throughout his career, one of the reasons being his flat-footedness, which makes running a difficult task. The other hitch was his famous long run-up which started outside the 30-yard circle, meaning that he has to sprint 180
yards an over to deliver six legate balls.
His cricketing career ended last year following his side’s exit from the 2011 World Cup. However, rumours of a come-back have resurfaced but the player himself has revealed that fitness is a serious issue.
"I thought I should try to play for my country again but fitness issues have stopped this from happening as doctors have advised me against returning to international cricket.”
The 36-year-old, who has featured for 13 different teams throughout his career, has now set sights on finding young talent, for which he will be taking part in a talent hunt program, alongside former teammate http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Moin-Khan-c77092.
