Lanka.
“This is very important. For us to continue to develop the team, especially with George in charge we have to try and find our roles in the teams, how we're going to play, how we are going to balance the whole team in general,” Watson said.
All eyes will be on T20 skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
“This will definitely be a big stepping stone heading into that Twenty20 World Cup,” observed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s main concern going into their tour of the West Indies was the notorious conditions in the Caribbean – the prospect of low, slow pitches, combined with hot humid weather pose a formidable challenge to the visitors.
They got off to a good start in the ODI series, winning the first match by 64-runs. However, they faltered as the series progressed, losing by 5 wickets in the second ODI, and by 42-runs in the 4th match (the third was tied). Despite this, the
tourists managed to find their rhythm in the nick of time, clinching a 30-run victory in the last match, ending the series on a draw.
The performance indicates that the Aussies are becoming acclimatized to the conditions, and are likely to put up an even better show in the upcoming fixtures.
In addition to expressing confidence in his own side, Watson also acknowledged that their opponents were formidable, and that the even competition would serve to ensure an exciting T20 series.
“They've got a very good T20 side. The way they can hit the ball and their skills and a lot of their guys play in the IPL,” he observed. “I think it's going to continue to be a great series.”
The two-match T20 series begins on March 27 at the Beausejour Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia. Australia will also be playing three T20s against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 this year in August, after which the World Twenty20 is scheduled to commence on September 18 in Colombo.
