T20 series win set nice tone for the ODIs says Sunil Narine – Cricket News Update
Ecstatic after whitewashing the Blackcaps in the T20 series, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Philip-Narine-c91869 is looking towards the five-match One Day International series, which gets underway at Sabina Park, in Kingston, Jamaica, on Thursday, July 05, 2012.
Speaking to media reporters on Tuesday, the 24-year-old Trinidad spinner stated that the T20 clean sweep in Florida last weekend has set a positive tone for the ODI series.
"We’re on the right track with these two wins here in America. We set a good tone with these two wins," said the offie before leaving for West Indies on Tuesday.
Narine, who played a vital role in West Indies’ series win over the Kiwis, praised his batsmen, who posted defendable totals in both games (209 and 177), and backed them to carry on the momentum into the fifty-over encounters.
“The batsmen batted really well,” said the Trinidadian. “The way Gayle and Pollard batted on Saturday was really good and made it a bit easy for bowlers. Yesterday we played well again with the bat and the bowlers followed up again."
The right-arm off-spinner, who came to the forefront with his performances for Kolkata Knight Riders in this year’s Indian Premier League, claimed 3 for 34 in his side’s 56-run win in the opening T20I, followed by 4 for 12 in Sunday’s 61-run victory.
Narine went on to express satisfaction with the results achieved in the T20 series, which bode well for the upcoming fixtures.
"We’re hyped coming over here. We won by pretty big margins, but whether we win by 60 runs or 10 runs it doesn't make much of a difference - a win is a win and we got the results we wanted," said the off-spinner who made his International debut in December
last year and has 15 ODI scalps in his name from 10 appearances.
The ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 will be followed by a two-Test series, at Antigua (July 25-29) and Jamaica (August 2-6)
