TATTOO, IS this pretty legit??

Question

Im getting it on my inner wrist. It is going to say Hope, and either have a heart lock with a key or a shooting star. Which one would look better? It is about everything I've been through in life, looking forward.

shooting star because it could mean that theres hope and look forward and see greater things for you in the future like some people say shoot for the stars or something like that

Personally I prefer the heart/key. Or you could get a heart with wings or a bird... I'm reminded of the Emily Dickinson poem "Hope is the thing with feathers/that perches in the soul/and sings the tune without the words/And never stops at all." If I were getting something about hope, I'd get a bird or wings with it, just because that's my association. Shooting stars seem a bit too trendy and cliche to me. I would prefer a nautical star, which has the meaning of guiding you and protecting you. But it's your tattoo, get what you want. All that's important is that it mean something to you.

My vote is for the shooting star. When you see a shooting star, you make a wish, don't you? Well wishes involve some kind of Hope. I think that's your best bet. with the lock and key one it's kinda says more of a "i hope to not give my heart away" impression, and i don't think that's what your going for.

given the meaning of the tattoo- this should really be your decision. not what other people think will look good. if you're not 100% sure on your own, then hold off on the tattoo because it should really be your own decision.
