  1. TBX means thoroughbred crosss.

    They are crossed with other breeds to make them half thoroughbred

  2. It means Thoroughbred Cross. Usually, thoroughbreds are crossed with other breeds to make them lighter, and faster. Or they are crossed with drafts to create warmbloods.

  3. It means it's a half thoroughbred

    TB = Thoroughbred

    x = cross

  4. Thoroughbred Cross

    X = cross(meaning Thoroughbred + other breed(s)

    Other abreviations:

    QH = Quarter horse

    POA= Pony of the Americas

    that is all I can think of at the moment

  5. As others have mentioned TBx means that the thoroughbred is crossed with something else. Not necessarily half, it could be 1/4 or 3/4 or any mix really! Some other abbreviations you

    may hear in the UK are:

    X - cross (the breed is crossed with another)

    TB - Thoroughbred

    ID - Irish Draft

    Sec A/B/C/D - Welsh Section A or B etc.

    WB - Warmblood

    QH - Quarter horse (v few of these in the UK)

    M&M - Mountain and Moorland

    SH - Sports Horse

    WHP - Working Hunter Pony

    PB - Part bred (as in Part Bred Arab etc.)

    POA - Price on application

    PC - Pony Club

    RC - Riding Club

    SJ - Showjumping

    XC - Cross Country

    DR - Dressage

    If I think of any more, I'll add them!

  6. It means that there is thoroughbred in the blood crossed with another breed.  Usually this can mean anything.

    When I had my horse vetted he was still in a winter coat.  The vet could not decide what the breeding was but he had strong thoroughbred characteristics.  On his certificate he wrote:  3/4 thoroughbred crossed with something hairy!!!

  7. It is a thoroughbred cross - but of course the other half of the cross will be the thing that makes the difference. Connemara x TB are common at the smaller end and TBX Irish Draught are common in larger horses - but there are plenty of other possible combinations.
