TE Martell Webb, LB Shawn Loiseau sign for Indianapolis Colts practice squad – NFL News
The Indianapolis Colts have consolidated strength of their practice squad after the New York Jets plucked one of their players to sign on the active roster.
Tight end Martell Webb and linebacker Shawn Loiseau are the new signees of the team, although terms of their contracts have not been disclosed by any of the parties.
One place on the Indy’s practice squad roster came up after the New York Jets signed Hayworth Hicks to their active roster and another space was already present.
Both players have spent some time on the rosters of other teams during the training camp and there is a possibility that the Colts might promote them on the active roster just to add to protection of their quarterback.
The Colts have all of sudden awoken to the need of complete protection of their QB. The team is not willing to compromise on the offence leader’s security especially after he has led them to a clear opportunity for the playoffs this season.
It is fact that the credit of this year’s performance goes to Luck and if he is lost to any indecent happening such as injury the team might fall back on the same old miserable track of losses.
The Colts have done remarkably well by reaching the 6-3 record on back of two wins of last season and with playoffs just around the corner for them they want to pull up themselves together once again.
It is rather unfortunate that the team have recently lost their head coach albeit temporarily to a cancer illness. Coach Chuck Pagano is under treatment at a local hospital, while offensive coordinator Bruce Arians is working as an interim head coach. He is rather lucky to guide the side to a majority of wins under his reign.
First-year general manager Ryan Grigson has also been contributing to some important decisions, as is the owner Jim Irsay. Both figures have done well to put back the miserable Indy side on winning tracks.
Grigson is given credit for timely providing the team with required manpower and players who are crucial to take forward the side to a respectable position in the league.
