TE Owen Daniels’ return boosts Houston Texans offence – NFL News
Quarterback Matt Schaub, wide receiver Chris Johnson, running back Arian Foster and now Owen Daniels, Houston Texans' offensive line could not be better than this.
Irrespective of the question whether their oppositions be threatened by increasing dominance of Texans’ defence, the group forms to be one of the most formidable forces to stop. Pertinently, the team is using it as their best defensive strategy: unleashing
high-paced offence leaves a little or no room for the opposition offences to launch their attack.
Owen, whose form had been affected due to a ligament injury in 2009, seems to have returned to his best touch but insists he is not done until he reaches his prime.
He said:
"I can look on film and tell a difference with the way I'm moving this year compared to last year. I could probably show anybody and they could probably recognize it. So that's what I like seeing. I'm excited to see that, and hopefully I can continue to
look like that and continue to move around well."
Most importantly, he has won backing from coach Gary Kubiak, who says the player seems to be as good as he was before suffering the injury blow in 2009.
Gary believes:
"He's playing right now as good as I've ever seen him play since he's been with me, and he's played pretty darn good in the past. Hopefully -- we keep our fingers crossed here -- he stays healthy. He's on his way to a big year."
The player himself is satisfied with his health and fitness level, and has been working hard to regain the lost form, although all analysts including the team officials do not see him affected at all.
It nevertheless gives more advantage to the Texans who have penetrated through one of the strong defences in the league so far. Their rusher Foster has particularly been impressive and he might be even better with return of Daniels.
The team is progressing atop the American Football Conference (AFC) South with six impressive wins. They appear to be definite contenders for the playoffs and even beyond.
