  1. Very much!!!

I believe all children are equal.  We should not judge our students by their looks or IQ.  If a child is Special ED, than he or she is very special.  Special means unique in my dictionary, one that needs a little extra help, but it dose not make him or her any different then any one else.  So would I be offended? of course.

  2. Absolutely a show in Australia recently copped a bit of flack about making fun and belittling people with disabilities, supposedly in jest.

Non the less it was offensive and had many people up in arms about the shows content which seems to do something offensive on a regular basis.

  3. i am not a teacher but one of my best friends is diabled and yeah it does offend me because we are all the same each of us were made in the image of the lord the fact that some have hurdles that others don't have to jump over makes no differance were all equal

  4. Do we all have to be so politically correct?

  5. There are lots of images in movies, t.v commercials etc. which I do not endorse.(especial the role of women and dorky fathers, as well as disabilities) It is just that: a movie and I don't really get upset.

  6. I'm not a teacher but I say that it's not their fault that they were born like that, they didn't ask for that to happen, it just did.  Therefore they are all just people like you, me, everyone around the world.

  7. Sadly no. The reason why is because most shows make fun of the special ed kids that many think of as just being lazy.

At the school I teach at, there are several students in the speacial ed program that are literally coddled and babied through high school. They are diagnosed with a specific learning disability. Then, the special ed teacher comes in, takes notes for them, writes their agenda down, and almost does all the work for them. Yet, when I talk with the student one to one, I find that he/she goes home, watches TV, plays the computer, or does absolutely nothing to better him/herself.

  8. Absolutely.  I can' think of any movies that do that right now.  Do you have any examples?

I was very worried about Johnny Knoxville's 'The Ringer'  but they did a really good job with it.  The Mighty is a great movie as well.
