Question:

TEENS in PARIS.........?

I am off to Paris tomorrow, and although I've traveled there before, I have no idea what to do!

I'm 16 years old, and I want to break away from the whole tourist thing. I've done the tower, the louvre, ND, blablabhblah... and I want to do something else.

I was thinking about clubs, music or dance, that are teen friendly. I am staying outside of Paris, so it doesn't really matter if it is close to my apt at all, I can metro anywhere I suppose.

Also-- with the clubs-- are they drinking friendly? I go with the flow and it doesn't really phase me, but I would just like to know.

Thanks so much!

  1. Hi Carloline,

My teenage god daughter recently visited me in Paris and some of her favoite things to do here:

Visit the huge FNAC - Music Store on the Champs Elysees and listen to the newest International mixes on head sets

Followed by a movie across the street at Gaumont Cinema where American movies are shown in their Original Version O.V.

Natural History Museum was too cool, like somehting out of a horror movie with body parts floating around in jars!

Check out: Aquaboulevard. It may not be the beach, but its seven water slides, wave pool, against-the-current river, indoor and outdoor pools, spas and Jacuzzis, whirlpool, geysers, water cannons, walls of water, waterbed with bubbles and waterfall make it a fun substitute, and it’s safer than swimming in the Seine. A McDonald’s, an Oh! Poivrier!, a pizza place and a first-run movie theater are located on the premises as well.  4 rue Louis-Armand, 15e. [tel] 01-40-60-10-00. Métro: Balard, head down av. de la Porte de Sèvres; just after you walk under the overpass, you will see Aquaboulevard straight ahead. Admission: €20 ($23) people ages 12 and older.

The legal drinking age is 18 in France, but you don't have to drink to enjoy a good dance club!  Here is the most recent list of the top 10 fun clubs to dance at!

    Have a good trip!

  2. i know nothing about the clubs, all I can say is that you should look for a club in those area:

le marais, third and fourth arrondissement

St Michel, the metro station as the same name.

    champs elysée,

    bastille.

If you want to buy alcohol, just go in any supermarket and buy whatever you like. For the strong ones, ie vodka, you often ask someone to give you the bottle.

There is no real age limit, if your under 16 they might refuse to sell you strong alcohol but beer will probably never be a probleme. In clubs, as long as your in you can buy whatever you like, but sometimes they might considere that you are too young to enter.

It actually depend on the person who is selling you the bottle, he might decide that you are too young, under 16  generally, or just doesn't bother. You should not need any ID to buy alcohol.

  3. At ten p.m. every Friday night thousands of people gather in the the Place d'Italie and proceed to rollerskate thru the streets accompanied by a special Police unit to clear the way and keep them safe. That might be a good activity to start off with and a way for you to meet some local people of your age.

Your difficulty will be, for any night time activity, that public transportation after midnight is restricted to the Night Bus system which is fairly limited. Things don't really get going untill 9 or 10 so that might be a real problem.

EDIT: I must disagree with Wendy about the legal drinking age. My understanding is that it is 18 for distilled alcoholic drinks (vodka for example) but 16 for beer and wine. Of course, its been so many years since I was a teenager I can't swear this hasn't changed.

  4. France 16 (beer, wine), 18 (spirits) Anyone under the age of 16 can drink alcohol as long as the child is with the parent/guardian
