TEFL test?

Question

I am interested in teaching English as a second language. I have searched the internet for a site that would allow me to register just to take the TEFL test itself -- not a preparatory class.

Which board administers this test? How do I contact them to find out what the test costs, etc.?

Not sure how other school systems work, but I believe in Florida, you would need to take the teacher certification exam. Also, they do not just let anyone sign up for the test, the state Dept of Ed has to give you a letter of eligibility that states what subjects you are eligible to teach. TEFL has very specific educational requirements. They won't just let anyone teach it!
