Hey guys...I've been playing tennis for a while, but i'm just starting to get really competitive, and some of my coaches told me it would help in the long run to change my hand grip....and well...im sortta lost...

....i was wondering if somebody could send me PICTURES of each way to grip a racket (you know, western, semi-western...etc)...and tell me the pros and cons of each one....and lastly, which one you prefer...

....best answer gets all points...

thanks again....

  1. Hi, check out this site, it has a great picture and some explanations of the grips.

I do agree with the website, the eastern forehand is the most commonly used forehand grip by the pro's and I like to use for topspin and power.

  2. I beleive the semi-western is the most commonly used grip on the tour, as it gives much more topspin than the eastern forehand grip. I use the eastern grip, as I find it more comfortable and it gives me more control and it is easier to change from forehand to backhand, however they are teaching children to use the semi-western grip. I would suggest trying different grips before making your decision, just turning your racquet in your hand and finding what feels comfortable.
