  1. Well, since you're thinking of teaching in Europe, the best option for you would be CELTA.

If you are successful, you'll be certified by the Cambridge University.

    Or CerTESOL.

    Both programs are available world-wide.

The fees and dates vary according to the college, language school, university where they are offered.

  2. TESL certification is offered at many universities, but I would look at the course catalog to see what backs up the certificate.  Are there a lot of courses in English linguistics, practical grammar for the ESL instructor, phonology of English, and the like?  (Some ESL certifications focus on "theory of bilingual education" and "materials and methods," which often turn out to be useless time wasters.)  You might also try to find out which certifications are preferred by schools where you are interested in teaching.  A letter of inquiry to specific schools or contacting the cultural attache at the embassy might uncover some helpful information.
