*upon oxidation, phosphorus changes to phosphate ion, which forms a yellow precipitate with ammonium molbydate

To a pinch of egg albumin in a test tube, add about 1 mL of concentrated nitric acid. Boil carefully until the solution becomes clear. Allow to cool and then add slowly about as much clod water as you have liquid in the test tube. Add about 1 mL of ammonium molybdate solution and warm gently in a water bath.
