on thursday just gone i was tipped a horse at kempton park temple of thebes in the 920 trained by Ed Dunlop the horse was withdrawn from the 6f AW race.

What i think is this : Ed Dunlop pretty much knows what form Temple of Thebes is in and in my mind there is no doubt the horse would of won on thursday but i think the FIRST EVER RACE AT GREAT LEIGHS has more status and hence the switch.

i hope iam not wrong but thats were my money is going the horse is going to be fav but hopefully not too short

any opinions on this wellcome.

  1. How shrewd are you Des, well done.  Ed Dunlop is a pretty shrewd trainer himself and one of my personal favourites.

A couple fo years ago  won a competition via Teletext to be a VIP guest at his stables.  We had to be at his stables in Hamilton Road, Newmarket at 6.30 in the morning to see the first string ride out, we then went back for breakfast, out again to see the second string, a tour of the stables and the Nationall Stud and Members Badges for the racing at Newmarket where a real highlight.  It was the time that he was training a lovely filly called Lailani who beat her stable companion Mot Juste in the Irish Oaks in 2001 and followed it up with a Grade 1 win at Belmont Park (fillies and mares) needless to say she was by Unfawain by a Mr. Prospector mare.  Since then Ed Dunlop has had legendery success with the filly Ouija Board now retired to Stud and at in February this year gave birth to a foal by Kingmambo.  Now that's one to watch out for..

Ed Dunlop is one of the best flat trainers around and I congratulate him on this win and wish him well for the coming season.

Any more like that one Des, what do you fancy for the 2,000 and 1,000 guineas.  My moneys on Natagora for the fillies race but not sure about the 2,000 guineas.  Will be going to Newmarket for both days in a couple of weeks and need to do some homework for this one.

Keep reading between those lines, the clues are always there its picking up on them that takes some doing.  Well done.

    Jacqui

  2. on form he deserves to be fav,but he wasnt actually a non runner on thursday at kempton,he just had a entry like many horses do at the 5 day stage and then at the final delcaration wasnt declared.he aslo as a entry at catterick on wednesday in .he likes a tricky horse to me,he seems to travel well in his races ,but  under pressure shifts his ground at the finish, although inexpereice is most likely cause, but he looks like he should of won to me first time out.

  3. won at a good price, wish i seen your question earlier.

    well done.

  4. you could be right des the switch does look significant get on early as it could go odds on later . it looks a two horse race with the in form john gosden runner but your pick showed enough last season to take this . good luck
