  1. we have a narrow boat and there is a thrush on a nest near where it is moored. the sound is beautiful! i agree with you. im keeping the location secret so some idiot doesnt try to steal the eggs! but i also agree this is the only one ive heard this year its quite sad.

  2. Apparently their numbers have been declining and are on the Red List.

It's been a long time since I've seen or heard one in my garden.

Maybe their food supply is in short supply.  So many people use slug pellets, or garden in ways that discourage wildlife.  I hasten to add that I don't use slug pellets and I'm sure there are enough snails in my garden to feed an army of thrushes.

  3. I wonder if it is due to the popular use of slug pellets.

If the thrushes eat poisoned snails (snails being a main food) they will die-as do the hedgehogs!

  4. i dont have any either.

"Reasons for the decline are poorly understood but may relate to the following factors:

Changes in farming affecting food supply and the availability of nest sites, particularly the switch from spring to autumn sowing of cereals, and possibly the increased use of pesticides.

Severe winter weather and dry soil conditions affecting food supply.

    Predation by corvids and foxes.

    Competition with blackbirds.

    Hunting in southern France"

  5. I live in a very wildlife rich environment . I've even got bats in the attic . I've been here 2 .5 yrs and only ever seen one Thrush . It seems to be really struggling .

  6. We have both in our Very Rural Village thankfully. They are beautiful indeed ,we also have them nesting in our trees and Hedgerows.
