  1. Police are good in general. Older police who have experience in the field seem to be better. Older police who have seem more extreme cases able to judge the range of good and bad, minor crimes and major crimes.

Younger officers I Have encountered tend to be overpowering, unprofessional, and sometimes just dont seem to be doing their job correctly. (not saying all are like that).

I would like to see LONGER TRAINING for police. Perhaps require a slightly better eudication. Either way, a few more years of trainig are needed to ensure civilians are not being abused by officals they come in contact with most.

I would also like to see it illegal for police to be on medications of any sort.

On the other hand, I would love to see inner city police to get AR-15's in car.

  2. Police authority is great when the police are the servants of the public and are mainly concerned with the protection of the public and enforcing the laws as they are written.

When the police are "peace officers" they are more responsive to the people of their jurisdictions and more respected by those they protect.

When the police become "law enforcement officers" they are more concerned with enforcing the laws at all costs, without regard to those they are intended to protect.  They lose the respect of those people they are hired to protect because they lose contact with the personal aspects of their jobs.

The police departments of the United States are becoming more and more "militarized" all the time, moving away from the "peace officer" aspects of the job into the "law enforcement officer" mode.  While this may be justified by the nature of the criminals that they must try to apprehend, it does little to reassure the populace and they begin to distrust the police departments for fear that they become not only the targets and victims of the criminals, but the targets of the police.

  3. The censors can use their own discretion to decide who should be tortured for violating community standards.

  4. Before police authority really became a big item there was alot of respect among  each other, the work was rewarding and enjoyable .In this day and age there is no respect for life, property, well being of others etc. so the next thing to come into the picture was heavy law and order. We have a large number of people in different departments of law enforcement doing a good job, but there is still that small amount that give a bad name to all the departments and what they are doing. In this day and age with the lack of respect for each other, the different languages in the United States I wouldn't suggest a young person enter into law enforcement unless it was out of the way of crimes on the streets. The Law Enforcement  Forces are employed because people can't control themselves and respect each other. Unless you have a gun or a good size dog who can you turn to when their is a problem involving the law. Respect whomever you come into contact with that is working in law enforcement, they might lose their life to save your life or someone you love.

  5. In the right hands, POLICE AUTHORITY would be a "positive" in today's scenario. However, many police have "abused" their powers and "framed" folk and the like. The police authority thing has gone to an "overwhelming level." Most people are quite "upset" when they know that the police will be involved. They know that the police are usually not "fair-minded." I know folk who are White, Black and folk of many other ethnic groups. Those that I have questioned about this "matter," have said that they "distrust" the police. I wish you well. Peace, Love and God Bless.

  6. In my neighborhood we have a police officer  named Eddie Quarrels who threatens law abiding citizens who question and email the Mayor, City Coucil , State Representative, Govenor, and the Media about the rampant drug selling in the North Hieghts of Amarillo.  He tells him that they need not be writing those people as he is ultimate authority to who this man can write.  The man told the officer about knowing that the major drug king pin got away with robbing a Bank of America.  Though Mr. Demerson (drug lord) was endicted on the bank robery.  Seems too suspicious that a police officer would threaten a law abiding citizen who is tired of the drug dealing in his neighborhood and the bank robbing drug dealer has not been caught.  Now the Police know exactly who is doing what in this neighborhood but if it were in the Mayors, City Councils or in the rich nieghborhood the problem would not continue. So by the autorities in Amarillo the drug dealers have freedom to intimidate including the police intimidating the citizens whos hands are tied.  I am sure that in this most segregated city of Amarillo Texas there is a reason why the black nieghborhood gets little attention and the drugs sold are to those not from this neighborhood. I know this to be fact I am a student of Social Work at Amarillo College and I am the person who was intimidated. The drug dealers have guns and the police have the law to abuse.
