What's the deal with seats/seatbelts for while youre in transit? Are there ccampervans that have 4 seats for travel-equipt for child seats etc? Whats the difference between camper van and motor home. Looking for something suitable for day trips and overnight stops possibily. Not looking for vehicle for holidaying for any length of time.

  1. I take it you're in the UK: Basically, any purpose built 4 berth motorhome will have 4 seats with seatbelts for travelling.

A motor home is the more moder terminology for a camper van - the emphasis is on the comfort of 'home' rather than the utilitarianism of 'camper' & 'van'.

You're probably aware that there's a huge range of prices - some of the big, modern stuff is silly money for what's essentially a van. I'd consider a caravan - at least you can park it up & then go off in the car, and all of your car seats, etc., can stay in there - you won't need to swap stuff about to use the home bit of your motorhome!

    Happy shopping.

  2. JUst remember that a motor home is a very expensive way of holidaying. They are expensive to buy, expensive to run, you still have to pay campsite fees, which are also expensive. You really need a normal car for day to day driving. WE had a caravan, but sold it for these reasons. WE paid £12000 for it. It cost us £30 a month to insure, as much as our 2004 Discovery, camp sites charge any thing from £20 a night, and we had to pay £5 a week storage. Of course, you can do it more cheaply, but for the price of a motor home you can get a h**l of a lot of holidays!

  3. I have a half sized 1985 Thomas built bus that I got free because the motor was blown. I have put around 8 grand in it. Motor, Captains chair for the driver, Springs all around. 4 back tires, new gas tank, Inverter, Air conditioner, 2 custom made tables, wood grain linolium floor, Gas heater, and a computer. There is no water facilities or fridge yet,  The seat table area can be converted into a huge bed. I stopped working on it because of the price of gas. It get's around 8 miles to the gallon. I put it on Ebay and didn't even recieve 1 bid. It's yours for 5 grand! I live in NY State.
