So, i was trying this problem on my graphing calc, and this is what happened. this was my equation ( _> is greater than equal to)

abs(x-y)_>0

my x value was 24 and my y value was 9

so the equation was true. however, when i pressed enter, it said the answer was 1. does anyone know what the 1 means, and why the calc puts it there? cuz i tried it with different variables, and it did the same thing...

Thanks in advance,

Tunz

  1. When you enter an equation, the TI answers 1 if it is true and 0 if it is false.  Try entering 24 - 9 = 3.  It will say 0.

  2. I think that this is beyond the abilities of your calculator to solve.  However, it's simple by hand:

    Abs(x-y)>=0

    Abs of everything is >=0.

    So, this is true for all (X,Y).

    Perhaps on your calculator, "1" means "True"?
