Question:

TI84 vs HP50g : which Graph Calc is best?

I recently bought Hewlette Packard HP50g graphing calculator. How does it compares to TI 83, or TI 84.

HP50g typically differentiate

d/dx √x = (0.5∙√x)/(1∙x)

which is 1/(2∙√x) as we know, but it is how HP50g differentiate. and integrals become bazarr!!!!! I specificly bought the calculator to help me find answers, instead it complicate integrals even more as it actually is!

I did not know about TI prior to my purchase of HP. HP is the best Graphing Calculator in my country, I couldn't find SHARP Graph Calc here, yet.

I'm getting curious about TI. two concerns:

1. does TI differentiate properly

2. does TI integrate properly

by "properly" I mean, not something like the example above, but PROPERLY, as we as humans would find the answers

I'm willing to buy TI, but I have to buy blindly, because I can't physically play with to see what it can do.

HP50g is programmable, but I have to learn differentils and integrals first, myself, before I can program it. I can do programming, though

  1. the TI-83, 84 are not cabable of symbolic manipulation. But you're talking about programming so I dunno. If you want something to differentiate and integrate beautifully buy a ti-89 or ti-200 voyage.

there's also not much difference between the 83 and 84 except for a few bells and whistles ex. the 84 has some reference formulas like standard form for conics as well as a periodic table.

anyway, my advice, since you are into the calc functions, is to buy a TI-89. they cost about $30 - $40 more than a 83/84. TI is far superior to HP
