TJ Galiardi signs with San Jose Sharks for one year, $950,000 million
Terry Joseph Galiardi, the Canadian-American hockey player has signed with San Jose Sharks in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL).
24 year-old left hander centre forward has signed a contract worth $950,000 for one year which is around 30% more than the $735,000 tender which San Jose had set to make him a restricted free agent. Galiardi signing this contract also makes sure that San
Jose will not have to pay more, a risk which arose after Galiardi had gone for an arbitration hearing.
TJ Galiardi did not have one of the best seasons last year when he was signed by San Jose Sharks for $700,000 from Colarado Avalanche. Last season when he was transfered to San Jose Sharks in between the season on 27th February where he played
just 14 games scoring only one goal but no assists whereas he had played 55 games for Colarado Avalanche scoring eight goals, giving eight assists and earning total of 14 points.
His performance last year was below par if it is compared with his performance in the very first season with Colarado Avalanche four seasons ago when he was just 20 years-old. He played just 11 games in the first season, in which he scored 1 goal and gave
3 assists. Next season was a breakthrough season and best of his career till now, in which got 15 goals and 24 assists.
This also earned him a place in the U.S.A team for Ice Hockey World Championships 2010. However in the 2010-2011 season he could not continue the performance he had shown in the previous season and performance which was expected from him.
6-feet-2 inches tall, Galiardi was also involved in a controversy last year when he delivered a hit on St. Louis Blues forward Andy McDonald. According to McDonald, Galiardi had hit him so hard that it broke his helmet.
A better showing can be expected of TJ Galiardi next season as he looks happy to have signed with San Jose Sharks once again. He tweeted on his official twitter account @TJGaliardi, “Very happy to be back with the sharks next year, looking forward to a great
season with the boys! #redemption”
His team mates also looked happy with this news as Logan Couture tweeted, “@TJ Galiardi: Very happy to be back with the sharks next year" Congrats my man!!” and Ryane Clowe tweeted, “@TJ Galiardi: Very happy to be back with the sharks next year, looking
forward to a great season with the boys! #redemption” great news bro!”
