TNT Express signs sponsorship deal with Royal Golf Club Bahrain
The courier giant TNT Express has signed a deal with the Royal Golf Club in Bahrain, UAE to sponsor the 2011 Order of Merit series, on the likes of Race to Dubai. The TNT Middle Eastern management unveiled in a press release, their future plans to invest
in the sports and other community services of the region.
The series will include eight qualifying rounds leading to the annual club championship. Also present on the occasion were the Managing Director TNT SAB Express Saudi Arabia, Director of Golf Phil Jones, Golf events key accounts manager John Wilson, and
Royal Golf Club Director of Sales Louise Daly.
“We're very pleased to have TNT Express as our partners in this series,” said John Wilson, “Places in the Club Championship Finals are very highly sought after by our Members and with excellent prizes sponsored by TNT this year, I expect the competition
to be fierce!”
The series is divided into three major categories including men’s, Ladies and junior players. Top five gross players from each category and top five net players will compete in the final round in October. The leading 16 players from men’s category and eight
top ladies and junior players will feature in the Club Championship Match Play final.
The current General Manager TNT Express Bahrain, Jeremy Skyrme also spoke on the occasion and said, “Sponsoring the Royal Golf Club Order of Merit is part of a broader strategic plan to give something back to the community in Bahrain. TNT Express has a growing
reputation for golf support in the region and it's good that we can now add Bahrain to the list.”
Royal Golf Club Bahrain recently hosted the Volvo Golf Champions Tournament, the season opener of the European Tour, after it was included in the tour’s venue list for the year. Bahrain Economic Development Board, which recognizes golf as one of the most
promising windows to showcase Bahrain to the world, is providing full financial backing to the Tour at Royal Golf Club.
The tournament was designed by the Tour along with the International Marketing Group (IMG), and only the past winners on the tour qualified to participate in the €1,705,097 event. England’s Paul Casey lifted the title on January 30th this year,
marking his 11th victory on the Tour in his 193rd participations.
The club boasts one of the famous Montgomerie course designed by Ryders Cup’s Winning captain Colin Montgomery and his team of experts. Montgomerie is a 7,243 yards, Par-72 course, quite flat with undulating greens. There is a number of oil drilling sites
around the course and a few oil pipelines also cross the course on holes 15 and 17.
Montgomerie features two “nodding donkeys” at these holes. The clubhouse offers luxurious world class amenities to the visitors with its all day catering in centrally air-conditioned environment. A private hospitality area is also available to the guests
on request.
