TOURS VB defeats PGE Skra BELCHATOW by 3-0 – Volleyball news
A match of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League recently took place in the French city of Tours.
The competition between the two sides took place between the home team of TOURS VB as well as the PGE Skra BELCHATOW of Poland. The resulting clash between the two sides did not take long to reach its end as the TOURS VB were able to make a clean sweep over
their opponents.
The recent loss of the Skra squad caused an end to their winning streak that had been going on since the start of the tournament. Despite the fact that they lost the match, Skra was able to put on a good fight in each of the frames, giving the 2,900 spectators
a lot of excitement in the match.
However, the VB home squad was able to come off as the better team as they sealed the deal on the match at the following final set scores: 25-22, 25-21 and 26-24.
The opening set of the match saw the Skra take the lead early on at 8-5 but before they could get away with the advantage, VB was finally able to pull up and grab the dominance at 16-14. Once they had the lead, the home team was able to stick with it until
the end of the frame at 25-22, a victory that was achieved in 26 minutes.
The second set again saw the Skra squad pull up ahead at 6-3. However, before they could extend their advantage, the VB squad was able to make the frame reach a tie at 6-6. The VB team stuck with the lead till 8-6 and later on till 11-8.
The Skra squad tried hard to overcome the advantage gained by VB but the team effort put in by their opponents was too strong as a result, the second set was bagged at 25-21. The third set of the match was the most competitive as both the teams fought hard
to have their way.
Skra looked to avoid a clean sweep whereas VB wanted to end the match on their terms. Finally, VB succeeded in grabbing a win at 26-24.
