  1. Check on http://www.pigeons.biz  Go to their Pigeon Talk section. There are a lot of folks there who've reared, saved, trained feral (wild) pigeons for numberous reasons.  They can help you, provide a lot of advice, and maybe even be able to set you up with a few birds of your own since there are a lot that have been rescued and need a permanent home.

  2. the wild pigeon thing is a bad idea. for one they live in flocks and you would be taking it from its family and possibly eggs. also wild pigeons carry bugs and illnesses that could harm you or other animals you own. a wild pigeon just would not do well in captivity. you should get a tame one and ask the people your buying it from about care. and es more then likely a baby pigeon would die. and by the way if you find a nest LEAVE IT ALONE. even if you only take one, the mom may still abandon the others because you were there. if you really love pigeons you will put their needs and wants first

  3. Best way to find a baby pigeon is to go to your local animal feed store and inquire about a breeder.

  4. Well to find a baby pigeon you;d have to find a nest, and if it was low enough for you to look inside of it then maybe you could get one.

Keeping a baby pigeon alive would be a trick, most baby birds can't live with out a mother or father bird feeding it unless you have a decoy like the rehabilitation places have for abandoned birds.

An adult pigeon will eat bugs, seeds, bread, etc, NO RICE!! That could kill them, when they eat it the rice expands in their stomach and when it has no more room to expand there goes your bird. That's true with any bird though.

I really don't think there is a way to get a wild pigeon to completely trust you, unless you had one from an egg or something like that .

As for training them, a bird can be taught some things but not a lot, are you wanting to use them as homing pigeons? I'm not too sure how to do that. I don't believe that there is a way to train them but I could be very wrong on that.

Knowing when a bird is sick is sometimes not as easy as it should be, if they are not eating or if they don't try to fly or anything and just sit there then they could be sick. If you even think that a bird is sick if it;s your pet then take it to the vet, only they can tell you if it's really sick or not.

I'm no expert on birds but, that is some of the information that I've gathered over the years from bird owners and pet shop workers and from the real so called bird experts. Some of what I said may be wrong if it is then I apologize now, like I said that's just information that I have gotten over the years. I hope that my answer helped .
