How can i best use my cash/account without obtaining alot of withdrawel fee's from Overseas banks?

Im also paranoid about Overseas banks eating my card at the ATM and then me being stuck with no mony other then the credit card... any suggestions as i definately dont want to be carryoing travellors cheques and large cash around.

  1. If you're scared about the ATM eating your card only use the machines that are attached to a bank so if you encounter a problem you can go inside and get immediate help.

    Unfortunately if you're using overseas banks the best strategies to avoid enormous fees are to withdrawal large amounts of cash and use travelers cheques.

    A good strategy that I like to use is to prepay everything I can before I go on my trip-this can include hostels, buying gift cards to popular restaurant chains, and transit cards. If you plan out where you are going you can usually cut down costs in foreign countries to a minimal amount and save money.


  2. No bank will swallow your card unless its the issuing bank, so don't worry about that.  Most ATM withdrawals charges are based on total withdrawn, not number of transactions.  You'll have very few problems, its the method I always use.
