  6. You need sunblock, insect repellant, broad brimmed hat and decent (polarised) sunglasses. You need a range of clothes suitable for temperatures of 0-45C if you're travelling everywhere, especially for the warmer temperatures, sturdy walking shoes/trainers, a swimsuit or two.

    There are a few mosquito born diseases in some areas such as Ross River fever, so it is important to use repellant. Otherwise it's very safe.

    Each state has a website that describes the different regions and the tourist activities available, there's way too many to list here. Allow an absolute minimum of three months to travel most of Australia, 6-12 months would be better.
