  1. On DVDs.

  2. They are gold and enamel "eggs" filled with precious gems made by Peter Carl Fabergé.  The first such egg was presented to the Tzarina, wife of Tsar Alexander III, in1885. Throughout Alexander's reign, only one Fabergé egg was made each year. It was presented to the Czar at Easter. This tradition continued after Alexander III's death and until 1916 with an egg being presented, annually, to the Dowager Empress (Tsar Nicholas II's mother) and the Tsarina Alexandra. Three Imperial Easter Eggs were displayed, for the first time, in 1900 at the World's Fair in Paris. Fabergé's company was shut down by the Bolsheviks, in 1918, and he moved to Lausanne. He died there, September 24, 1920.

As to their current location, it is my understanding that they are now scattered over the world (several in museums) since their sale by Soviet commissars in the 1920s and 1930s.
