  1. Firstly, antivirus programs will NOT remove these as they are malicious codecs, although they may find reference to them and remove it but upon rebooting it's back again.

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Removes Antivirus:

    http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Ant...

Download, install, update and select Full Scan.

Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

    Spybot S&D:

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/downl...

Download, install, update and Immunize, then click 'Check for problems' then when complete select all and then 'Fix Checked'

Spyware Doctor Free Basic Edition - Realtime monitoring:

    http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_inst...

Its free with Google pack, untick all boxes except Spyware Doctor. Download install, update and run.

    SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition:

    http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpyware...

Download, install, check for updates, then select Scan your Computer, select your drive and select Perform Complete Scan

    VundoFix:

    http://www.symantec.com/content/en/us/gl...

Disconnect your computer from the internet

    Run vundo

    Restart your computer

Run the tool again to ensure no traces are left.

If there are the reboot into Safe Mode and run FixVundo again.

If your desktop has changed or icons are missing also use:

    Wallpaper Hijacker Removal Tool:

Note: You should hit all "Repair" buttons even though it may not say "Found!" This will fix a wallpaper hijack everytime if all repair buttons are pressed.

  2. Antivirus XP 2008 is a suspect anti-spyware application that have a set of features which do not work, and produces false positives which may goad the user into purchasing the application. Antivirus XP 2008 show various pop-up advertisements and fake security messages, which may disturb your work and slow down computer performance. Antivirus XP 2008 is a clone of XP Antivirus fake antispyware. It is recomended to remove Antivirus XP 2008 from your computer.

  3. RIght-click it and select 'delete'.

  4. run your computer in safe mode ( only needed files run in this state) then run an antivirus and antispyware scan and delete or quarantine anything you find, it really doesn't matter which one you use they both get rid of the virus.

  5. Have avg remove them.... the first one is a codec.... if you use a program called richvideo.. it probably went to that

rogue antivirus was probably something that claimed to be a free antivirus but was itself a virus.

Use avg to remove them, reboot, and possibly bust out your winxp disc and do a 'repair' of the filesystem.

  6. DELETE THE QUARENTINE, AND IF IT FEELS LIKE ITS STILL THERE TRY MALWAREBYTES THAT DETECTS AND REMOVES ALL TYPE OF SPYWARE EVEN THE ONES YOU MENTIONED GOOD LUCK

  7. I'd recommend using better programs then what they have.  Since Antivirus 2008 is pretty nasty, I would recommend going through a three step of guides.  Just follow them and your problems will be over.  Step 3 and other posts on the blog will help you to change things that have been disabled such as the Desktop:

    For Desktop fix:

    http://ultcomprepair.blogspot.com/2008/0...

    1) Follow the specific removal guide for Antivirus XP:

    http://ultcomprepair.blogspot.com/2008/0...

    2) Follow the generic virus removal guide.  It's a long guide but it's very good at clearing out all traces of viruses from the computer:

    http://ultcomprepair.blogspot.com/2008/0...

    3) If things aren't back to normal (Start Menu missing buttons etc), then run the following fixes to get the system back to the way it should look:

Good luck, this will take care of your virus problem no question.

  8. Hi Warren

I was very upset when I had trojans on my computer. There is a site you can go to and download a free anti virus and it is most helpful. I also use it to scan my computer once a month.  Always remember once you delete, you must shut down your computer and start it up again.

    Go to grisoft.com

It's a 30 day trial, but I just keep updating. I had this for three years now without paying a dime

Scoll down until you see Try AVG for free

Download AVG Anti Virus (on the left)

and you are on you way to a better system.

I would do a full scan of the computer. It may take hours but it is worth it. The first time I actually started scanning my around 7pm at night and I let it run all night. I waited until I came from work the next day to delete all of the trojans. My system is running fine now.

    The best to you!

  9. go here for detailed instruction:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/malware-...

  10. Delete the Virus, Restart your machine in Safe mode, ( F8 while windows is booting up) and run AVG full hard disk scan.

Also, it is not a good idea at all to run 2 anti-viruses on the same machine, you end up having more problems than you resolve.

It would be a good idea to run an Anti-Spyware too on your machine, SpyBot is a good and free one.

    Good luck
