What do you forsee? Will Yahoo bring back a different type of way for users to comment on the stories or is Yahoo pulling our leg?

I think they'll bring'em back to the tail end of an article, but Yahoo will implement a complex scoring & user rating system to these boards. This system will reward users for recs, # of times their post is viewed by other users, and prehaps other factors. Then this system may deduct points from users if there's a complaint, which I think is a horrible idea.

Yahoo will design the system to create more of a sense of community and to detract the more vulgar users from their boards.

My suspicion about the removal of the old system is there was an outside force that had probably threatened some sort of action against Budde.

  1. I'd like to know the details of the lawsuit if one was filed!  If a one was filed it is public record and could be obtained from the jurisdiction where filed.  Someone who has experience in this field should look into doing so, and post it for all to view!

  2. uk.messages.news.yahoo.com

    Oh, and I think the U.S. boards will return, but not until AFTER the November '08 presidential elections, and ONLY if a republican is elected.

    Nevermind - I guess the boards won't be back after all.

  3. Some lawyer has a lawsuit against Yahoo,because he got called names on the boards.  What a wuss! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

  4. A guy in LA threatened to sue Yahoo because someone wasn't very "nice" to him on the boards.  That is the truth.

  5. What will the new NEWS discussion boards look like.,

    Well, it will be a place where everybody agrees with everybody else, a place of bunnies, and unicorns, and pet goats, and everybody compliments everybody for being so smart and so right{especially Republicans and right wing Christians}

    Oh, and everybody must give praise to PRESIDENT BUSH, JERY FAULWELL, AND FOX NEWS AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY AT LEAST  THREE TIMES A DAY

  6. I don't think there will be any replacement boards that's why I made a message group today in google so people will have some sort of outlet until Yahoo makes up its mind on what it really wants to do.

  7. The question that is at the top of my mind in all of this is: why didn't Yahoo have its alternative to our boards in place when they decided to yank the boards? If you are going to change them up, change them up. Why yank them, and then have us all hang for weeks (or however long we are going to be waiting)? It is likely that there really is no alternative at all. If they had issues with trolls, they could have done something about them long ago. They didn't. Why now with all of this?

  8. The first post is correct, as I understand it.  I don't know the details.  It seems to me that a disclaimer upon entering the boards would prevent any legal action.  Simply put, "Yahoo is not responsible for the content or opinions expressed on these boards.  Enter at your own risk." , along with a user's "over eighteen" electronic signature. This would certainly be easier for them than policing the boards for naughty words or discriminatory content, and would eliminate the need to take reports of abuse.

  9. I think a lot of the Conservative posters have found prison forums to post on.
