  1. Are talking high voltage 120V / 220 First thing first turn off the power so it don't bite you like a pitt bull. Then check breakers and work your way back to the source with a meter and read voltage/continuity you will find the problem's . On a car it is the same thing u just want to remember RESPECT THE VOLT"S IT CAN KILL YOU OR BURN EVERYTHING UP,If your not sure call a qualified electrician

  2. easiest things to check, ie fuse, components, connectors, wiring going through pinch points/moving parts

  3. 1.DMM OR VOLT METER.

    2.12 VOLT TEST LIGHT.

    3.WIRING DIAGRAM.

    4.CHECK FUSES RELAY AND GROUNDS.

  4. You should obtain a multimeter, capable of reading volts and ohms.  A digital one is best.  First disconnect the power source.  Do a physical, visual inspection as the previous answer suggests.  Then start measuring continuity - whether or not the circuits are complete - with the ohm (resistance) function.  A complete circuit should have very low resistance, unless there are actual resistors in the circuit, in which case you would still get a reading.  If all the circuits are complete, re-connect the power source and start taking voltage readings to see if each circuit is getting the correct voltage.  Those two steps should help you pinpoint the problem - if you know what resistances and voltages the system should have.

  5. you start with the power source, then the fuses, looking for an amp problem. then move on in the circuit all the way back to the battery.
