To dream that you are buying a cake, suggests that you have accepted the rewards and recognition your are getting for your work but buying it at less than full price may mean that your are getting attention and rewards for things that you have not put in a lot of effort for.  Maybe someone else did all the work and your getting all the glory .

First of all, a donut and/or cake has little or no value so if you paid less than the asking price, I think you got quite a bargain.

It almost sounds like you feel guilty about something in your life and feel you gave the store owner (you) a raw deal, but you didn't.   In this case, perhaps you are gaining some calories (weight) and you might feel guilty in that way, as well.  It's OK to gain something in life without feeling guilty, whether it is from calories or advantage.
