Did a very despondent munchkin who had been rejected by another decide to kill himself while they were filming "The Wizard of Oz" ?? Is it true that you can see him hanging himself in one of the scenes in the actual film???

  1. OMFG!..that is so false..its a bird..i thought it was true too when i saw it on this tv and i promise you i couldnt watch the wizard of oz for a while after that but that is so false. you can see something in the background but its a bird stretching its wings

  2. It's false; the "something" in the background in the woods scene is actually an exotic bird (a crane, according to behind-the-scenes stage hands) that flew from one tree to the next.

  3. Teacher helper is correct.

If you watch the scene directly before the "hanging", you can see this large bird hanging out on the lawn in front of a house.

it's the scene where they pick apples from the talking trees, then they discover the Tin Man, then dance off.  As they dance off, look  in the background by the trees.  Once you KNOW that it's a large bird, the movement will look more like a bird lowering its head and less like a Munchkin jumping from a tree.

  4. False.

I agree with maurice and legal beagle.

  5. false.

  6. false, its an urban legend.

  7. true

  8. I heard that it was true, and if you watch the scene closely (as Dorothy and Scarecrow walk down the Yellow Brick Road), you can see something bouncing in the background.

  9. It is absolutely TRUE!!   the poor munchkin was brutally harrassed and molested by one of those flying monkeys!   And he just couldn't take it anymore..... I feel really sorry for him, ya know......he was just tryin to represent the lollipop guild.
