I am sick of people buying all this water, canned goods, etc when Houston is 60 miles inland. if you live near the water Like Galveston (an entirely different city), La Porte, Friendswood, or Pearland I can see the need to stock up on ermergency supplies but NOT if you live in CYPRESS come on? Is it just media hype or what? I think we are going to be OK.

  1. I live about an hour out of houston and woke up to eduard over me and It was not as bad as I thought it would be, Humberto last year was worse

  2. Yes, it's all media hype and yes, it's all due to Katrina.  The typical media worker has an IQ of about 85 with no analytical skills whatsoever (yes, yes, I know you, your brother, your son-in-law etc are not like that but they are the MINORITY).  Therefore, they can't think through the fact that Katrina was such a disaster because LEVEES FAILED.  Hurricanes should ALWAYS be respected but we should also all stay real and realize a hurrican disaster like Katrina has only happened twice in history - once in 1900 and once in 2005.  First one was due to ignorance and rudimentary weather tracking tools of the time, second was due to a sub-sea-level city losing its levees.  Neither are likely to EVER happen again.

I still can't forget a friend of mine evacuating Houston due to Rita.  I begged him not to, but he did, taking his cat and her newborn kittens.  He ran out of gas sitting on I45 and the kittens all died in the heat.  For NOTHING.  Although I place blame on my friend, I also place blame on the alarmist media just looking for ratings.

Heck, Eduard is not even a hurricane!

  3. I somewhat agree with y'all, but there are other reasons for stocking up on things like that.  Sometimes there are major power outages & flooding associated with severe storms.  I was a bit disappointed that it was only rain.  I only stocked up on beer.  LOL

  4. Eduard could end up being unpredictable. Better safe than sorry...
