Question:

TSA computer-based test?

Hi. I know that Phase 1 is considered a "computer-based" test. I was just wondering what that entails. Are the multiple choice questions on the computer? Or is it just the x-rays? My husband is taking this test and we want to know if you must be completely computer-literate

  1. Computer literacy is not a component. It consists of simple math, spelling, and English grammar along with looking at a bunch (and I do mean a bunch!) of X-ray photos.

A sample might be something such as being given a sentence and then  a multiple choice of asking whether there was a grammatical error, spelling error, or no error at all.

    Its not a tough test.

Its a "computer test" because it is taken on a computer, that's all.

  2. I doubt computer skills are a must. However, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that your husband is probably too qualified for the job. Most tsa screeners wouldn't know the difference between a computer and a terrorist

  3. No, you do not have to be computer-literate. You just have to follow directions. Read the directions carefully and do what is instructed.

    Regards,

    Dan

  4. I doubt computer skills are one of the prerequisites. There should be a list of requirements on their web site.
