Question:

TTC chart problem - lots of open circles...?

I'm starting to chart for the first time. I opened my bathroom drawer and found a thermometer, so I started using that.

I typically wake between seven and seven thirty, so that is when I take my temps but when I enter the data it seems to want to plot it when an "open circle" rather than a blue dot. (I use fertility friend). Does my thermometer suck? Is it because I am changing the times from between 7:20 - 7:40? I don't enter any other information other than temp/menses. I don't understand why it doesn't like my data.

  1. It saying that becaus you are not doing it at the same time every morning.

  2. First of all, you have to use a body basal themometer, they are more accurate! Second you HAVE to take it at the same time everyday, most women set an alarm clock to do it! And you HAVE to take it RIGHT when you wake up, dont even get outta bed. The open dots are because of the difference in times.

    Good luck

  3. If I take my temp within fifteen minutes of the set time, I just keep it at that time when recording my temp.  For example, I normally take my temp at 6 am.  If I wake up and take it at 5:50 or at  sleep in a little and take it at 6:15 I will just record my temp at  6am on the chart.  I don't think 15-30 min. effects your temp too much, I am hoping not.  Besides, you are looking for a pattern on your chart, so .1 or .2 degrees doesn't really matter.  Also, I have heard you are supposed to record  the very first temp.  Don't take your temp twice, that will just make you more confused and stress you out.

  4. Open circle means that you are not taking your temp at different times.
